Hierarchies are essential for any functioning society
This hill is unclaimed. Nobody is willing to die on it. Yet. First blood pending.
- Pay, and you hold it.
- Anyone can dethrone you for more.
- Every claim stays on the record.
No claims on the record.
The other side
Coordination runs on shared rules and information, and both can travel sideways. Assembly-run co-ops set their own wages by vote. Juries reach verdicts with nobody outranking anybody. Standing command carries its own cost: bad orders travel down faster than corrections travel up. Ranks harden. The position outlives the task it was built for, and defending it becomes the work.
