A sterile IV bag is plastic packaging. So is the blister pack holding a week of heart medication, and the vacuum film that keeps chicken edible through a three-day truck ride. Removing all of it overnight means glass and heavier freight, plus food binned before it reaches anyone. Waste rises. The useful fight is over which plastics, and how they get collected.
