Wikipedia is one of the best things on the internet and teachers ruined its reputation
Cite your sources. Wikipedia does.
This hill is unclaimed. Nobody is willing to die on it. Yet. First blood pending.
- Pay, and you hold it.
- Anyone can dethrone you for more.
- Every claim stays on the record.
No claims on the record.
The other side
The rule against citing encyclopedias existed long before 2001. Teachers applied a standing standard about tertiary sources. It held. Meanwhile the reputation damage came from inside: edit wars and deletion fights over notability. Anyone who has watched a contested page churn for a week knows the feeling. Coverage thins wherever few editors care. The article is a snapshot of whoever argued longest.
