The other side
Religions grew because they solved problems nobody else would touch: burying the dead, feeding strangers in famine years. That work never stopped. Hospices and soup kitchens still run on volunteers who showed up because a congregation asked. Atrocity gets counted. Ordinary weekly care does not, because it looks like nothing happening. Remove the institution and the scaffolding goes with it.
