DIE ON THIS HILL
society

Social media has done more good than harm

This hill is unclaimed. Nobody is willing to die on it. Yet. First blood pending.

  • Pay, and you hold it.
  • Anyone can dethrone you for more.
  • Every claim stays on the record.

No claims on the record.

The other side

These platforms were built to sell attention. Revenue depends on time spent, so ranking systems learned to surface whatever provokes a reaction, and outrage provokes reliably. The consequence is visible in ordinary life: a teenager checking a follower count before breakfast, a family argument fed by a clipped video with no context. Connection was possible without an auction for eyeballs. The bill came due.
