The other side
Grocery pricing runs on volume and rent. A store in a low-traffic area sells less, throws out more, and prices accordingly. Margins stay thin everywhere. Calorie-dense staples like rice and flour remain the cheapest things on any shelf, which is the opposite of a system built to squeeze the poor. The real barrier is transport and time. Geography and wages do that work.
