"They don't get paid enough to care" is a rotten mindset
Poor service lands on people just as broke as the worker.
This hill is unclaimed. Nobody is willing to die on it. Yet. First blood pending.
- Pay, and you hold it.
- Anyone can dethrone you for more.
- Every claim stays on the record.
No claims on the record.
The other side
Condemning the phrase takes something from the person earning least. Care is labour. Absorbing a stranger's anger and smiling through a double shift cost energy that no one reimburses. Where goodwill reliably fills the gap, employers have no reason to raise wages or add staff. The phrase names that trade out loud, and naming it is how it stops.
