Owning a pet while working 50+ hour weeks is cruelty

The other side
Shelters fill up because people with free afternoons are rare. A dog crated for nine hours still gets fed, walked at dawn and greeted at night. That beats the kennel. Cruelty means neglect a vet could name: skipped meals, untreated pain. Long hours are a schedule. Dog walkers and daycare exist for exactly this reason. Cats mostly prefer the quiet.
