LinkedIn ruined networking by turning it into personal branding
This hill is unclaimed. Nobody is willing to die on it. Yet. First blood pending.
- Pay, and you hold it.
- Anyone can dethrone you for more.
- Every claim stays on the record.
No claims on the record.
The other side
Blame LinkedIn and the people it takes something from are the ones who never had the alumni dinner or the uncle in the industry. A cold message costs nothing and sometimes gets answered. Old networking was performance too. It happened over drinks and behind doors, priced in membership fees and geography. The posturing is visible now. Visibility is an improvement.
