A side project owned outright accumulates things a salary never delivers: a client list, a portfolio, pricing experience, an asset that keeps earning after the hours stop. Plenty of people who start one are paid perfectly well. They want a second door. Wage pressure explains why some sell their weekends. It does not explain the person who leaves comfort to build something.
