The certification exists because buyers wanted an enforceable rule about what goes onto a field, and a word on a package a regulator can pull. Organic growers accept audits and input bans that cut yields per acre. That cost is real. Anyone paying the premium is buying a documented production method, and the fruit carries a different set of sprays because of it.
