Anyone who moves cities for a year, or cannot raise a deposit, needs someone to have already bought the flat and to carry the roof and the empty months. A scalper holds a ticket. A landlord answers at midnight when the boiler dies, and eats the mortgage when a tenant leaves on thirty days notice. Without that role, the one-year tenancy stops existing.
